- but with new knowledge i was able to finally take the time (2 days, to be precise) to fix most issues in wurmkitschitsch nr. 1!!!

i didn't forgot about this being a series tho, and i also have collected quite some dreams since this release about 3 years ago to be turned into new ludic things... but there also are some really complicated dreams i always shy away from a bit πŸ‘‰πŸ‘ˆ so, in case of anyone waiting (with me πŸ₯Ί): bear with me pls, i'm not a person who abandons projects, and there definitely will be other parts in the future. i'm actually rarely ever dreaming anything (that I remember), which contributes to this unfortunately being a slow project.  and if AAA-studios are allowed to publish unfinished stuff they get payed for, individual unpaid artist-developers like me are allowed to not finish things immediately as well.

some small things have changed, and i always tried both to be close(r) to the actual dreams that i remember, and also at the same time staying true to the 2021 game jam version and not changing major things.

  • the most important things to me were the ability to restart the game (the buttons on the credits-overlay now work) as intended, and also the now fixed (in)visibility of the mouse cursors to click in dream scenes nr. 4 and 7
  • while working on the project for the pathos theatre munich in 2022, i did a little testing/showcase session with nicole collignon; while playing this one we noticed that one can get stuck on the right side of "the elevator" in scene nr. 5, where i now added a big collider to prevent that. during the "licking" scene nr. 4 i also had the urge to say "lick him!" while playtest-showcasing, and now added some text that says exactly that, written in comic sans ms.
  • generally, scene nr. 5 changed a bit: i made the lighting way darker and deepended the starting location in order to come way more closer to my actual dream. for the replayability i added an additional scene to unlock, and also added some environmental elements for those gameplay reasons here.
  • in scene 2 i added kinda like a cave/mountain thing that the player steps out of in the beginning. again, this is now way closer to my actual dream back then.
  • the same goes for the added completely black skybox in scene 3 in stead of the more provisionally wireframe-sky that i also used in Messages of Being Ghosted
  • in scene nr. 4, where one licks the he/him person (sounds weird to describe, but yeah), i adjusted the hair color into a blond tone to again come closer to the actual dream
  • i generally adjusted the lighting a bit in some scenes
  • in scene nr. 10 i added a counter and the ability to collect the money and dynamite - this doesn't serve any gameplay purpose, but if i remember correctly, i wanted to implement this back then too. i would love to fact-check this, but due to my document from back then having been destroyed in a terrible hard drive accident in 2022, i unfortunately cannot.

i now consider this first part finished. interestingly, while watching some videos about the original lsd dream emulator game over the past years, i noticed that my game actually unintentionally comes strangely close to some of the mechanics of that. i still to this day never played the original game, but have since watched some video discussing it. like recently dungeon chill's video about the dream diary/literary text that lsd dream emulator was based on, which got me thinking of actually writing down the dreams as a dream-diary-like text, and then providing this text to this and the possible future games of this series. i think, this would be quite nice.
